what is a printhead.

The printhead is the part that actually puts the ink onto the page. The ink flows through the printhead. Your printer uses cartridges that are merely an ink tank with a microchip. Without a usable printhead you cannot print.

if my printer wont print out and ink levels are ok do i need to change the printhead and if so how do i do it.

Yes that's correct possibly. If your printer wont print out and ink levels are ok then run a cleaning cycle (which you can do via the maintenance menu on your printer - usual a spanner symbol) and if that doesn't help then you would need a new printhead. We have them in stock and they are very simple indeed to replace. Just give us a call if you buy one and we will explain the procedure.
