Some facts about cartridge recycling

  1. Resource Conservation: Recycling just one ton of printer cartridges can save approximately 3.5 barrels of oil and prevent the release of around 2,000 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. E-Waste Reduction: Over 375 million ink and toner cartridges are discarded each year, contributing to electronic waste (e-waste). Recycling these cartridges helps divert e-waste from landfills and reduces the burden on our environment.
  3. Material Reuse: Cartridges are made up of various components, including plastic, metal, and electronic elements. Recycling cartridges allows these valuable materials to be extracted, processed, and repurposed for manufacturing new products.
  4. Energy Savings: Recycling cartridges requires less energy than producing new ones from raw materials. The energy saved from recycling cartridges can power homes, run vehicles, or contribute to other important needs.
  5. Conservation of Water: Manufacturing cartridges consumes significant amounts of water. By recycling cartridges, we reduce the demand for fresh water used in the production process.
  6. Landfill Impact: Cartridges can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills due to their complex composition. By recycling, we help minimise the long-lasting environmental impact of these discarded products.
  7. Job Creation: The recycling industry supports numerous jobs, from collection and transportation to processing and manufacturing. Recycling cartridges contributes to employment opportunities within local communities.
  8. Closing the Loop: Some manufacturers incorporate recycled materials into their new cartridge production. This "closed-loop" approach helps reduce the need for newly acquired materials and lessens the overall environmental footprint of cartridge manufacturing.
  9. Global Impact: Cartridge recycling isn't limited to a single region. It's a global effort that contributes to reducing electronic waste and promoting sustainability worldwide.
  10. Easy Accessibility: Many printer manufacturers and office supply retailers offer convenient cartridge recycling programs, making it accessible for individuals and businesses to participate in recycling efforts.
  11. Economic Benefits: Recycling cartridges can lead to cost savings for both manufacturers and consumers. Reusing materials reduces the need for expensive extraction and processing of raw resources.
  12. Educational Opportunity: Promoting cartridge recycling provides an opportunity to educate individuals and communities about the importance of responsible waste management and environmental supervision.
  13. Innovative Solutions: As technology advances, innovative methods for recycling cartridges are being developed, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the recycling process.
  14. Reducing Toxins: Some printer cartridges contain hazardous materials that can have a nasty impact on the environment if not properly managed. Recycling prevents these toxins from contaminating soil and water sources.
  15. Corporate Social Responsibility: Many businesses recognise the importance of incorporating sustainable practices into their operations. Implementing cartridge recycling programs aligns with corporate social responsibility goals and demonstrates commitment to environmental wellbeing.

We will recycle your old printer cartridges for free even if you don't purchase anything from us.

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations in the UK cover the management and disposal of various electronic products, including printers and their components like cartridges. These regulations aim to minimise the environmental impact of electronic waste by promoting recycling, reusing, and proper disposal. Manufacturers and retailers of electronic products, including printer cartridges, are generally required to participate in a producer compliance scheme, which ensures that a certain percentage of their products are collected, recycled, and properly managed at the end of their life cycle.

Why recycle?

Recycling your cartridges is a simple yet impactful way to contribute to a healthier environment. Each year, millions of ink and toner cartridges are discarded, adding to the growing issue of electronic waste. By choosing to recycle your cartridges, you're diverting these items from landfills and reducing the demand for new materials. Recycling conserves resources, reduces energy consumption, and minimises the pollution that comes from manufacturing new cartridges. Furthermore, many cartridges can be refurbished and refilled, extending their lifecycle and saving valuable resources. Your commitment to cartridge recycling helps conserve raw materials, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and promotes a more sustainable future for our planet. Join the movement to make a positive environmental difference by recycling your cartridges today.
