So we all know that 3D Printing is awesome on its own but what could be next for 3D?

Holograms… the answer is 3D holograms.

I can hear you screaming in anticipation for this, but here at Ink n Toner UK, we know a way that you can turn your smartphone into your very own 3D hologram projector! Cool, right? And all you need is a few simple things you can find around the house:

Clear cellotape
A pair of scissors
A ruler
A pen
A clear A4 piece of plastic
Your smartphone

This is how you can do it:

Draw a 6x6cm square in the middle of your A4 sheet of plastic
On the outside of the top line make a notch 3 cm in (in the middle of each line)
Measure up 4cm and make a dot
Measure ½ cm out from that dot and draw a cm line ( ½ cm on each side of the dot)
Connect the end of the line you just made to the corner of the original square
Repeat steps 2-6 for each of the sides of the square
Cut out the shape
Fold along the original square lines (be careful here) and you should see a pyramid starting to take shape
Use the cellotape to tape the sides of the pyramid together (it doesn’t have to be tight so don’t worry if the sides aren’t completely touching all the way down
Turn it upside down
Take your smartphone and turn the brightness all the way up
Find a holographic video from youtube
Place your smartphone in landscape mode
Right at the beginning of the youtube video there will be an X – place your pyramid upside down, with the hole at the top in the centre of the X
Get to eye level, turn the lights off and enjoy!
