Printing giant, Epson has worked together with local Indian law enforcement agencies in order to expose false ink manufacturers illegally selling counterfeit inks and products under the Epson brand name.

Raids conducted by Epson and Indian law enforcement were coordinated across many Indian cities from April to May. Some cities, where raids were conducted were Mumbai, Kolkata and Bhatinda. Individuals involved in the production and distribution of these counterfeit products were apprehended and charged with counterfeiting and violating intellectual property rights.

Counterfeiters in India tried to make and sell fake Epson products

A large number of false ink bottles, packaging materials, labels and holograms were seized. Around 9,357 fake bottles were taken, along with other printing materials intended to be used under the companies’ name.

An Epson India spokesperson stated, “We have a firm commitment, to safeguard the rights of Epson customers and our business by fighting against counterfeit manufacturers. The partnership between Epson and the local law enforcement authorities showcases the relentless efforts to eradicate unethical practices”.
