The Coronation of King Charles III and Camilla

Tommorow, on Saturday, May 6th 2023, a very well-known event will take place – the Coronation of the new King of England, Charles III and his wife Camilla. After the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles III took over the responsibility of governing the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth nations around the world as King.

After 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign (the longest reign of any British monarch and 2nd longest in history, second only to Louis XIV), the public will be able to once again celebrate the Coronation of the monarch. Charles III, on the other hand, is the oldest monarch to ascend the British throne, surpassing the former record holder, King William IV.

There is no doubt that the ceremonies taking place at Westminster Abbey will be special and a rare event that will be viewed by millions around the world. Though there are people who will not watch the Coronation due to controversies surrounding the Coronation and Royal Family, many are already also waiting outside Buckingham Palace and other known places around Central London just to see the King and Queen Consort – even as early as 10 days before the Coronation takes place!

The public has also been encouraged to swear allegiance to Charles and very few have gotten tickets to attend the Coronation. Preparations for the Coronation and safety measures are being taken into account with all the planning, costs and other factors contributing to the event.

Many will bring along flags and banners with the King on them to celebrate and show their support for the monarch. You may have seen some around, whether they’re sold on streets and shops, hung around in people’s homes, windows and walls or on TV and online. Why spend your money on (sometimes) expensive flags you can make yourself for lower prices AND share with your family, friends and anyone else interested?
