After attempting to close down re-manufacturing of compatible ink cartridges, Lexmark have completely lost their reputation with printer consumables distributors and ended up closing down their own inkjet business altogether. This meant that Lexmark profits have decreased drastically over the past couple of years, causing them to search for profitable alternatives elsewhere. The Company has turned its eyes towards… The FBI?
Lexmark has dug in deep and came to an agreement with FBI which will allow them to cash in $30 million dollars over the 3 years period. In return they will be responsible for replacing 20,000 printers which will connect to FBI’s IT cloud. It goes without saying that Lexmark have a big job on their hands to handle the authentication and security at the highest level.
FBI Benefits
The predictions are that the deal will see FBI benefiting too. They will be able to save around $10 billion dollars by 2020 due to an impressive Lexmark laser cartridge technology .
Executive Vice President of Lexmark and President of Imaging solutions Marty Canning stated:
“There is a reason Lexmark has a strong presence today in eight of the top 10 U.S federal agencies. We have built years of knowledge and expertise in the federal government arena giving us an edge to put an effective output strategy in place that aids these agencies in running more efficiently while supporting their important missions and future initiatives.”
