How to Replace Ink Cartridge

Inkntoneruk.co.uk

At first glance it might seem like a simple and straightforward procedure but due to many customers inquiring and asking how to replace their printer cartridges, we have decided to go back to the basics and clarify it for those that might be stuck. If you are struggling to replace your Canon printer cartridge, Brother printer Cartridge or any other cartridge for that matter then follow the step-by-step guide below and you will be printing again in no time.

Step 1

If you want to replace your empty cartridge then obviously you must have a new cartridge ready. So the first step is to go and buy the ink cartridge. If you still do not have yours, then it is a good idea to purchase them now. Grab a cheap ink cartridge at InknToneruk.co.uk the cheapest ink provider online.

Step 2

Take the cartridge out of its packaging and be sure to remove any seals, clips or strings that might come with the cartridge. This also entirely depends on what printer you own.

Step 3

Make sure to plug the printer into the socket and turn it on. You will be able to tell if the printer is on or off by the printer’s light or printers screen if it has one. The light or the screen is usually placed somewhere on the top of the printer.

Step 4

Lift or slide the lid of your device. This should automatically make your printer cartridges slide out.

Step 5

This is probably the most valuable piece of advice. When you are taking the used cartridge out of the printer, pay close attention to the way you are taking it out because that is exactly how the new cartridge will have to be inserted into your machine.

Step 6

For those who already missed step 5 and took out the cartridge without paying any attention to it – check out this simple video explaining how to remove and install the new cartridge.

Tip 1: When replacing compatible ink cartridges or recycled ink cartridges have a tissue handy just in case the cartridge is leaking.

Tip 2: Every cartridge should come with a manual. If it does not then most likely the cartridges are not of the highest quality. Please refer to the manual to replace an ink cartridge.

HP OfficeJet 150 Mobile Printer

There is no end to innovation and HP has proved it again why they are the “boss” when you need to manufacturer a printer or cheap ink cartridge of the highest quality. HP’s stockholders have recently pressured the HP chairman Ray Lane to resign successfully due to disappointing financial growth. However, HP corporation as a whole continues to thrive despite 13 billion euros setback and released a portable HP OfficeJet 150 printer.

HP OfficeJet 150

HP took it to another level when they have released the OfficeJet device because nothing like that has been designed previously. We did have mobile scanners but a portable printer that can scan, print, and copy is quite extraordinary. You might think “why would anyone need such device?” but it wouldn’t have been released if there wasn’t a market and demand for it. According to HP the first portable all-in-one printer in the world will be useful to “business professionals who need compact, durable solution for printing, scanning and copying while on the go”

The OfficeJet 150 is relatively small which is something that you would expect from a mobile device but still it is not as compact to carry around like laptop for instance. It works with a built-in Bluetooth enabling the end-user to connect from tablet or a smartphone to complete required tasks. Additionally, it has a battery which will last for around 500 pages once charged to the maximum. It goes without saying that it will include Google Cloud-print and Apple air-print. The OfficeJet 150 will have 3.5 inch touch screen to control all the functions in style. The most impressive part of this machine is that it is pretty fast too, producing printing speeds of 20 pages per minute is not something you would expect from a device that you can carry wherever you please.

HP technology used for Medication

The biggest corporation in the printing industry HP is not snoozing and is expanding into other industries as well. The latest move by HP is to help the production of medication. Scientists will be able to take advantage of HP device that has been developing for 10 years to create medication. This is slightly different area than HP toner cartridges for HP printers, but the technology used will be very similar.

The device was developed using HP Officejet Pro X’s printhead, which accommodates over 42,000 nozzles. The main reason why the device is necessary is due to repetition and human error involved in medication production. It works by dropping droplets of chemicals into tiny sliding containers saving hours and hours of the painful process.

Joe Dody, Business manager of speciality Printing Systems for HP said:

“We imagined the application and we worked with customers to convince ourselves and the industry that we were creating value in doing it, so we gained support from HP to make a business out of it.”

“A researcher applies between 200,000 to a million drops of the compound to test against the disease target and they hope that 10,000 are actually hits. Then they can determine what’s common between molecules and what’s the dose at which these drug molecules are causing a positive interaction with disease.”

The HP device could potentially save up to 95% of work, billions of dollars and years of medication development processes. Printers are designed to spit out ink from printheads and HP’s Direct Digital Dispenser (D300) will do exactly that. Except instead of the ink, the D300 will be dropping desired substance drops, allowing the scientists to test many different substance variations saving time and increasing the chances of discovering even greater medication.

This is a perfect example of technology helping us to achieve more. It’s inspiring and equally surprising to see, that printer technology is helping and improving lives.

The machine took years to develop but it seems that it was worth it in the end.

Dody stated: “If you didn’t find a solution you would have to make a hard business decision or scrap the project. The stakes were high”

“The scale of our core printing business allows us to make a refined tool at a cost that is cheap. This is the first time the world has a reliable way to dispense at the picoliter level”

Mr Dody is saying they saw the need and gap in the industry for this type of machine. They did everything to create a device that would be profitable and valuable to medicine and printing industries alike.

The HP inkjet Officejet devices are magnificent and additionally knowing they’ll contribute to latest developments in medicine is simply brilliant. The HP inkjet printers together with Epson Workforce Pro printers have been hailed as laserjet killers.(Read more on HP Officejet inkjet to challenge laserjet printers).

Epson

Just take a minute and have a quick look at the prices above. The original Black Epson T0711 costs £9.98, which is decent but, if you look just a bit to the left, you will the the Premium Compatible price and it is only £2.29!!!! That is staggeringly low.

Unseen savings like these are unseen to a regular consumer because, they ether heard rumours that compatibles are bad or had 1 or 2 bad experiences with them and never looked back again. Now, don’t get me wrong, of course the compatible ink cartridge prints are slightly less sharp and you might get an odd faulty cartridge, but most of the time they are perfectly fine and to be honest, there are not much of a difference between the two. In this case, the fact is that the compatibles ink cartridges are four times cheaper and that’s why the Epson T0711 holds the title of the cheapest ink cartridges.

At the end of the day, it is a choice you have to make whether you want to save lots of money and buy the compatibles but get an odd problem here or there or you can buy the pricier originals and not worry about anything going wrong. The decision is yours.

HP

Last but not least on our list are the HP cheapest ink cartridges. As you can see for these cartridges you even have 3 choices. You can go for the Budget, Premium or the Original ones. Budget cartridges are refilled and we can also refill them for you, if you send in your used ink cartridges to us with our free post (Read more). However the best choice is definitely the premium compatibles as they guarantee the best value for money.

The original HP 300 ink cartridge cost is fair £11.85 but the if you look again to the options available to you more to the left, you’ll discover cheapest ink cartridges at the price of 6.99 for refill and premium. Keep in mind that you also get high capacity ink cartridges because they have maximum ink in them, so not only you paying twice less but you are also receiving twice as much ink in return!!!

Conclusion

Firstly, I will be the first one to say this “the compatibles are not for everyone”. If you have your big business which depends on highest quality prints and you simply cannot afford an odd faulty ink cartridge, or, furthermore, maybe you just simply can’t stand the idea of any problem that would cause the cartridge to be replaced. Then, obviously the compatibles are not for you, but if you are a SOHO user or just print occasionally and you are prepared to be a bit more patient if necessary, then you will be able to take advantage of the cheapest ink cartridges and save huge amounts of money in the long run.

Inkjet vs LaserJet

As discussed on the previous post Epson “Laser Killers”. Epson proved that they managed to design Inkjet printers that can compete with most of the LaserJet printers and in some cases even beat them on price and printing speed.

The leading brand in the industry Hewlett-Packard, better know as HP is not falling behind and decided to take a similar approach by releasing HP inkjet printers to challenge laser jet printers.

If, you are considering to buy a laserjet, I would suggest to stop for a minute and think about your options fully, as the new printers from HP are not the ones to be ignored.

Introducing the latest HP inkjet printers

Quick Review of HP Officejet Pro X451dn Printer

To review these series printers from HP, I chose the most expensive one and the cheapest printer to review and the HP X451dn is the latter. The X451dn is a superb printing machine that takes advantage of technology to produce fantastic results in any office environment. It is one of the most cost effective and low energy using printers, that will save lots of cash in the long run. The HP X451dn simply does not care, if you are printing in black or colour it will still give you an outstanding printing speed of 36 ppm (pages per minute).

It also offers ePrint capability to allow you to print from anywhere in the world via e-mail. It also has great Ethernet connections for your network and 50,000 monthly duty cycle means that you don’t have to worry about the HP X451dn reliability. All in all the HP X451dn is cheap, will save you money and prints faster than most laserjet printers.

Quick Review of HP Officejet Pro X576dw MFP Printer

The HP X576dw MFP doesn’t look like an inkjet and certainly doesn’t print like one. 42 ppm (pages per minute) in black and colour is what you would get, if you decide to purchase this brilliant printing device. The HP X576dw MFP will print the first page in colour and black in no longer than 9.5 seconds, which is lighting quick, considering this is an inkjet. The HP X576dw MFP is also packed with great features and just like the X451dn includes ePrint capabilities that allow users to print from almost anywhere in the world. It will also prints in 1200 x 1200 dpi graphics which guarantees professional looking documents. Overall the X451dn printing machine is a great eco-frienldy printer and is bound to save you money on ink cartridges.

Dog fed by HP Printer

I know what you are thinking. What? How? Well, read on to find out.

One morning, Nat Morris, an IT consultant woke up and said, while I’m working, I can’t feed my dog Toby. What should I do? I know what! I shall create a device, that does it for me! Mr Morris decided to use his IT skills and knowledge wisely to create and implement a dog feeding device, in addition, powered by HP printer motor.

How does HP printer feed Toby?

This is the amazing part of the whole device. The HP printer dog feeding device (or whatever you want to call it) is triggered by a social network application Twitter. Once Mr Morris decides to feed Toby, he sends a tweet, the sound alerts Toby that the goodies are about to be released. Then, the food goes down the pipe and is served into Toby’s bowl and vuala. To top the brilliant device off, there is also a CCTV camera attached to it allowing Mr Morris to witness his dog dining.

After successfully creating the device that most of the dog-owners can only dream about, this is what Nat Morris had to say:

“Toby absolutely loves it. At first, he didn’t know what was going on. Now he sits underneath, wagging his tail waiting for the treats to drop. People have been sending him food at all hours of the day, so I had to limit it to between nine in morning and nine in the evening.”

InkNTonerUK can’t feed your dog. However, we can certainly feed you with unlimited amount of ink and toner cartridges. However, if you want to feed Toby, you can tweet to Toby @FeedToby on Twitter.

Human Eye Inspires Inkjet Technology

Human Eye Inkjet Technology

It seems that, the more we study about ourselves, the more advancement is made in technology. Certainly, this was the case when engineers from Columbia in University of Missouri invented clog preventing nozzles for inkjet printers by mimicking the human eye. It is well established fact that the most expensive aspect of printer maintenance is replacements of ink cartridges and the new technology potentially could save money for businesses and consumers alike.

The co-inventor of the technology Jae Wan Kwon commented: “The nozzle cover we invented was inspired by the human eye. The eye and inkjet nozzle have a common problem: they mustn’t be allowed to dry while, simultaneously, they must open. We used bio-mimicry the imitation of nature, to solve human problems. Other printing devices use similar mechanisms to inkjet printers. Adapting the clog-free nozzle to these machines could save businesses and researches thousands of dollars in wasted materials.” professor Kwon went on to say “For example, biological tissue printers, which may someday be capable of fabricating replacement of human organs, squirt living cells to form biological structures. These cells are so expensive that researchers often find it cheaper to replace the nozzles rather than waste the cells. Clog-free nozzles would eliminate the costly replacements”.

How does it work?

The problem is after we finish printing the ink dries out and the nozzle occasionally gets clogged. The new technology will apply a drop of silicone oil to cover the the nozzle when not in use. Similar to the way the eye operates when eyelids keep the eye moisturised but the inject technology will use an electric field to move droplet of oil in and out, keeping the nozzle moist and avoiding the clogs.

HP challenge

HP has challenged the human eye inkjet technology by claiming that they already have solutions to the nozzle drying out problem. Thom Brown supplies expert said that HP already implemented ways to stop ink drying out by “cartridges design, ink chemistry, careful selection of ingredients, printer design, and servicing algorithms.” he added ” Additionally, HP printers are equipped with a physical cap to prevent the ink at the print head from drying out while the printer is not in use. Under normal wear and use this design performs very well to prevent the ink drying at the nozzle.”

Conclusion

Current inkjet technology does a brilliant job preventing dry nozzles and doesn’t seem to be an issue. However, what was created by Professor Jae Wan Kwon and his co-workers cannot be underestimated. This could be the greatest invention towards ever advancing 3D printing technology. 3D Printing Technology is where even immortality has the potential to be achieved when creating human organs using human cells. One thing is certain – this invention will definitely speed up 3D printing developments.

Battle: Original vs Compatible

Matrix of the Problem

Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) such as Canon, HP, Brother and Epson etc – take years to design, develop new technology and manufacture their printers. Apparently, it takes up so much of their resources, that by the time the printers fully develop and are ready for selling to the consumers – the OEM companies are in a loss. The only way for the OEM to get their investment back and make profit, is to sell ink and toner cartridges at higher prices and try to prevent the public from buying the compatible ink and toner cartridges, although the latter is unnecessary. It’s a difficult battle for many companies, big or small. What does the competition look like today, and what tactics are used? Let’s get started and get into the details of every battle constantly fought by huge companies.

Dirty Tactics

One of the latest moves by HP in the battle of original vs compatible ink and toner cartridges, is to install new software drivers on to your computer after you bought HP inkjet printer. Once it is time for you to get your replacement inks, you decide to go for the cheaper compatible HP ink cartridges. Your cartridges arrive swiftly and It is all fine, but after you inserted the compatible ink cartridges into the printer, the software installed by the HP confronts you with the following messages:

“Counterfeit or Used Cartridges Installed”

Warning

  • Your printer warranty does not cover repairs or service due to use of non-original ink cartridges
  • Information about ink levels will not be available
  • This is not a genuine ink cartridge to continue click OK, to cancel the print job click Cancel (no OK button provided)

The false information displayed such as “counterfeit ink cartridge installed” can really put the consumer off and make them feel as if they are doing something wrong. The Remanufacture Industry invested time to develop compatible ink and toner cartridges and OEM such as HP bombard the consumers with unnecessary information, in some cases causing the consumers to send the 100% fine compatible ink cartridge back where they bought it from.

Original or Compatible Ink Cartridge for me?

When I first got into the printing industry, I was not aware of compatible/remanufactured/aftermarket ink and toner cartridges. The consumer awareness is a vital part that determines, what we purchase and who we sponsor. While multi-million companies base their success on profit, sometimes the consumer is lost in the middle of all the “palava” but facts remain facts regardless of the OEM companies trying to tell you otherwise. Advantages of purchasing the compatible ink cartridges instead of originals are huge and undeniable. By purchasing the compatible inks you save bundles of cash on your printing costs, while the effect on printing quality is only slight, you also contribute to a cleaner planet.

Mark Twain, American Humorist, Writer and Lecturer once said “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes”. I hope Ink’N’TonerUK helped you to put on your “wise printing shoes” to determine what ink and toner cartridges are best for you.

Best Value Ink Cartridges And Printers

We seem to be getting more and more people asking us for advice these days on which cartridges and printers are good value for money. So we thought we’d put down some ideas for our loyal customers.

General pointers.

  • Avoid choosing a printer which takes cartridges which incorporate a printhead in the cartridges design. (inkjet cartridges)
  • Avoid choosing a printer with only takes one colour cartridge and choose printers which take individual cartridges for each colour. (Ink tank cartridges)
  • Try to steer away from the cheaper £30 -£50 printers because the cartridges are expensive. Replacing a set of cartridges can cost more than the cost of these cheap printers. The more you spend on a printer the better value for money your cartridges will be.
  • Avoid Lexmark and Dell. These printers and cartridges represent very poor value for money, with expensive cartridges and poor build quality on consumables such as printheads and ink formulations.
  • If your printing is for the home or small office use compatibles as they are much cheaper and produce good printing results.
  • Calculate your cost-per-print by diving the pages a cartridge produces by the cost. If it’s a colour printer add up all your inks and divide by the page yield of only one cartridge not them all.

Good Value For Money InkJet Printers

  • Start off by finding the right cartridges first before you choose your printer and then see what printers the cartridges take.

Generally any printer which takes the cartridges mentioned above will give you good quality prints at the right price for home or small office printing. These cartridges are all available as compatible and give you good quality printing at a heavily discounted cost.

6% Increase In UK Printer Sales From Last Year

What?

Context – a market research group have released figures which show printer sales within the UK are up 6% from the third quarter of last year. Growth increased mainly within the all-in-one inkjet market with an increase of 9.5% in sales standing out from the rest of the UK figures. Furthermore, this could partly be explained by the new line of inkjet printers designed to take on the role of laser printers with improved cost-efficiency. Released this year by manufacturers like HP and Epson, their marketing was targeted at educating customers about the improved cost-efficiency and performance of these machines when compared to that of their laser counterparts. The ink cartridges for these machines also feature toner like page yields and have a much lower unit cost.

European Sales Down

The increase in UK printer sales was in stark contrast to that of its European counterparts which mostly reported negative growth, most notably in Greece with a massive -35.1% and Spain at -6.1%. Only Germany reported an increase in sales which were a measly 1%.

Market Leaders

44% of all inkjet and laser printers sales in Europe were made by the market leader HP. The second largest figure came from Canon at 21.4% who were up an impressive 19.1% from the previous year. HP have flooded the market with low cost ink cartridges tailored for SOHO printing (small office home office). Canon have also introduced their new line of ink cartridges which give lab quality results.

Increased Sales Outside Of Europe

Central Asia saw huge increases in the amount of laser multifunction printers bought. So did the Middle East which saw an increase in demand for copier based multi-function devices. Africa also saw an increase of sales in both inkjet and laser printer sales. Users outside of Europe will be frustrated. Why? Cartridges bought within Europe won’t work on any printer outside of Europe. This is due to the five different coding zones which prohibit printer cartridges working in different continents.
