How to avoid security breaches

Featured

Every company has to be extra cautious in terms of security breaches, as it has become a norm for hackers in today’s society. Major damage can be done to computers and even printers by a simple installation of malicious hardware. As most printers today are multi-functional and have wireless capability, everyone often uses them. This can render them vulnerable to viruses and hacking. With wireless networks, allow users to send data meaning it is easier for hackers to meddle with. There is a chance that your printed files may still be stored into the print queue, exposing you to more security threats. If your printer is not secure than anyone who wants to breach the network and acquire your company’s information can do so. To avoid this from happening, you need to make sure that your internal Wi-Fi connections are safeguarded with security software.

Security

Printers from HP

HP Enterprise printers include software that protects the device and detects assaults automatically. These printers can even ‘self-heal’ after being infected with a virus!

Printers from Samsung

To prevent unauthorised access to multifunction printers, Samsung printers have a Secure Login Manager. You may create an extra security barrier for picture files or other stored documents by configuring ID and passwords as well as PINs to access the system. Furthermore, a Confidential Print function accounts for the possibility of leaving printed documents unattended on the printer, where they might be picked up by anyone. Samsung printers keep submitted jobs until the intended receiver arrives. Only by entering a PIN code can the task be safely sent to the correct hands.

Printers manufactured by Xerox

To prevent unauthorised access from hackers, Xerox recommends McAfee software. The ConnectKey programme notifies you that the files on your printer have been tampered with.

It also has settings to lessen the need for manual software upgrades to deal with potential risks.

Cisco is another suggested software for Xerox printers. It provides secure external email connectivity that encrypts data flow between multifunction printers and externally hosted mail servers. This implies that while transmitting digital files, mail servers are safeguarded.

How to spot fake Ink Cartridges!

Featured

Counterfeit ink cartridges are like counterfeit other fake items such as Jewellery, shoes, and even paintings. They are designed to look like the real thing—in this case, ink sold by well-known printer manufacturers such as HP, Canon, and Epson. At best, it is inferior to the real McCoy in terms of image quality. Worst-case scenario, it jams and leaks, causing damage to your printer.

Remember, Compatibles/Remanufactured products are NOT FAKE!

Do not confuse fake ink with off-brand or ink that is on offer, which is manufactured to specifications by honest companies and can be a viable, low-cost alternative to brand-name ink. Whereas discount ink manufacturers seek happy, long-term customers, counterfeiters seek quick profits.

SCAM Image

Only buy ink from reputable retailers. Although anonymous online deals are appealing, what can you do if a seller you do not know sends you a counterfeit ink cartridge? Even though reputable retail stores are occasionally duped into selling counterfeits, you will have some right of appeal if the ink you receive turns out to be fake.

Assistance in identifying Fakes

For many years, printers have holographic seals or other seals to ensure the authenticity of the products they sell. If you adjust the box, try to look at how the security seal reacts. This should be as the manufacturer specifies. Many significant printer manufacturers, such as HP, provide assistance on their websites in identifying genuine packaging.

Original suppliers vs Fake suppliers

Original supplier goods are never smeared with ink on the outside of the cartridge or inside the package. There ought to be no black toner dust or cartridge damage. Original products have multiple pull-tab tape seals all over the ink ports.

Fake cartridges frequently leak, overfill, and print in improper colours or with distorted text. Keep a close eye on the output quality of your printer. If it appears to be a fake, especially right out of the box, contact the manufacturer.

4 things to know before buying Ink Cartridges

Featured

Here are some things we believe you should know before buying your first Cartridges:

CMYK

Are you interested in an Original (OEM) Cartridge OR a compatible cartridge (Non Original)?

Before buying a cartridge, it is important to understand all of the cartridge types available in the market for your printer. Some printers may accept a compatible cartridge, whilst others may not. Nevertheless, they are both as reliable as one another are; it is still good to know before buying. To clarify the difference, an Original is manufactured by the same brand as your printer. Whether it’s a Canon Printer, Dell Printer, HP Printer, Lexmark or any other brand, this list will surely help guide you when buying ink.

E.g. if you own a Canon printer, you will find that Canon has already manufactured a specific cartridge for this printer. A compatible cartridge is when a cartridge is manufactured by a third-party for your printer.

E.g. a Canon cartridge that is not manufactured by Canon. Some may argue that buying a compatible is much better if bought from the right place, as it is the most common and most affordable option for many.

Will using an InknToner UK non-genuine original cartridge affect my printer’s warranty?

No, using non-genuine original cartridges will not void your printer’s warranty. All of our cartridges will match or exceed the performance of OEM cartridges. In addition, they will be at a significantly lower price, giving you the best value possible.

Are page yields important to look into before buying a cartridge?

What are page yields?

Page yields are an estimate of how many pages can be printed with your printer cartridge. These page yields will always vary depending on the ink or toner coverage of the documents you are trying to print.

The page yield will be determined by how often you replace your cartridges. The higher the page yields the less replacements you will need. This makes it more cost efficient for you in the end and will help your printer running smoothly.

Should I buy standard or high capacity?

The difference between High Capacity and standard capacity is that a standard capacity contains less ink and is less expensive than the high yielded cartridge (high capacity). This is because a high yielded cartridge contains more ink and will usually print more pages at a better value.

Wireless Printer Sales Increase

Wireless AIO’s Sales Increase

It’s been reported by CONTEXT, that in 2012 sales increased by a substantial 9% for wireless all-in-one printers. The strange fact is that sales increased only in Western European countries including United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Italy,

France and Germany. However, the overall sales of wireless all-in-ones has declined by 14 percent. Looking at these statistics it is safe to say that Western Europeans prefer the idea of less clutter in the office and the ability to move the printer easily whenever necessary. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is satisfied with the old-school printing devices and are not bothered. While the advantages of owning a wireless printing device are obvious, when reading through some printer reviews, I discovered that quite a few people have been struggling to connect their wireless printers to their computers.

Market Shares – HP Still on Top

HP has seen a 10% decline for inkjet printers in the market share and fell below the 50% mark. However, HP remains by far the main leader. Epson and Canon have 25 and 10 percent market shares respectively and have closed the gap slightly between the HP.

Increase in Sales by Country

  1.     Netherlands 36.8%
  2.     Italy 19.2%
  3.     France 11.1%
  4.     Germany 9.2%
  5.     Spain 2.1%
  6.     United Kingdom 1.6%

As you can see the Dutch really enjoy the wireless printers, as they stand first in the table of sales increased for wireless AIOs. While the Italians came second with almost twice less sales than the Netherlands. France and Germany have seen a solid increase too, both in and around the 10% mark while Spain and United Kingdom still enjoying the old-school printers as minor sales increase has been recorded with 2.1% and 1.6% respectively.

This is what Senior Research Analyst Matthew Fuller of CONTEXT had to say about it.

“The report highlights demand of wireless AIOs across homes and small offices due to the flexibility of where printers can be placed while also allowing multiple devices to connect without the need for unruly cables”

For outstanding customer service, top quality products at affordable prices, always remember to check InknTonerUK out when it’s time to reload ink cartridges for your wireless printer.

Best Value Ink Cartridges And Printers

We seem to be getting more and more people asking us for advice these days on which cartridges and printers are good value for money. So we thought we’d put down some ideas for our loyal customers.

General pointers.

  • Avoid choosing a printer which takes cartridges which incorporate a printhead in the cartridges design. (inkjet cartridges)
  • Avoid choosing a printer with only takes one colour cartridge and choose printers which take individual cartridges for each colour. (Ink tank cartridges)
  • Try to steer away from the cheaper £30 -£50 printers because the cartridges are expensive. Replacing a set of cartridges can cost more than the cost of these cheap printers. The more you spend on a printer the better value for money your cartridges will be.
  • Avoid Lexmark and Dell. These printers and cartridges represent very poor value for money, with expensive cartridges and poor build quality on consumables such as printheads and ink formulations.
  • If your printing is for the home or small office use compatibles as they are much cheaper and produce good printing results.
  • Calculate your cost-per-print by diving the pages a cartridge produces by the cost. If it’s a colour printer add up all your inks and divide by the page yield of only one cartridge not them all.

Good Value For Money InkJet Printers

  • Start off by finding the right cartridges first before you choose your printer and then see what printers the cartridges take.

Generally any printer which takes the cartridges mentioned above will give you good quality prints at the right price for home or small office printing. These cartridges are all available as compatible and give you good quality printing at a heavily discounted cost.
