Wireless Printer Sales Increase

Wireless AIO’s Sales Increase

It’s been reported by CONTEXT, that in 2012 sales increased by a substantial 9% for wireless all-in-one printers. The strange fact is that sales increased only in Western European countries including United Kingdom, Netherlands, Spain, Italy,

France and Germany. However, the overall sales of wireless all-in-ones has declined by 14 percent. Looking at these statistics it is safe to say that Western Europeans prefer the idea of less clutter in the office and the ability to move the printer easily whenever necessary. Meanwhile, the rest of the world is satisfied with the old-school printing devices and are not bothered. While the advantages of owning a wireless printing device are obvious, when reading through some printer reviews, I discovered that quite a few people have been struggling to connect their wireless printers to their computers.

Market Shares – HP Still on Top

HP has seen a 10% decline for inkjet printers in the market share and fell below the 50% mark. However, HP remains by far the main leader. Epson and Canon have 25 and 10 percent market shares respectively and have closed the gap slightly between the HP.

Increase in Sales by Country

  1.     Netherlands 36.8%
  2.     Italy 19.2%
  3.     France 11.1%
  4.     Germany 9.2%
  5.     Spain 2.1%
  6.     United Kingdom 1.6%

As you can see the Dutch really enjoy the wireless printers, as they stand first in the table of sales increased for wireless AIOs. While the Italians came second with almost twice less sales than the Netherlands. France and Germany have seen a solid increase too, both in and around the 10% mark while Spain and United Kingdom still enjoying the old-school printers as minor sales increase has been recorded with 2.1% and 1.6% respectively.

This is what Senior Research Analyst Matthew Fuller of CONTEXT had to say about it.

“The report highlights demand of wireless AIOs across homes and small offices due to the flexibility of where printers can be placed while also allowing multiple devices to connect without the need for unruly cables”

The chairman of Lexmark Paul Rooke, stated “Today’s announcement represents difficult decisions, which are necessary to drive improved profitability and significant savings. Our investments are focused on higher value imaging and software solutions, and we believe the synergies between imaging and the emerging software elements of our business will continue to drive growth across the organization” he added “As we move forward, we remain confident in our strategy, competitiveness and ability to create value for shareholders”.

Mars – Wide Format Printing

Featured

Printing from where? The title doesn’t make sense surely! Oh yes – it does my friends. While we go about our day to day business, NASA is determined to investigate the Martian climate, geology, role of water and planetary habitability. Kris Capraro a computer systems engineer for the Image Processing Laboratory at the National Aeronautics has been working for 27 years to bring space images into spotlight and wide format printing is helping him to achieve that. Printing from Mars is possible (?).

Introducing the Curiosity Rover

Curiosity rover (pictured below) is about the size of an average car. It was launched aboard MSL spacecraft from Cape Canaveral Air force station on 26 of November 2011 and it took 8 months to travel 350,000,000 miles (563,000,000 km) before it successfully landed on Aeolis Palus in Gale Crater on Mars.

Capraro who took some pictures of the Curiosity Rover before it was launched said “When I took those pictures, I was astounded at how complicated the sky crane actually was,” he stated “Of course, the rover is also extremely complicated, but the lander just had bundles and bundles of wire harness. It was just unbelievable piece of machinery, but it worked.”

Wide Format Prints

Wide format imaging assisted the landing of Curiosity at Gale Crater as it is not easy to visualise something that is larger, than a computer screen. Capraro puts together left-to-right view large prints to produce big panoramas making it easier for people to visualise it. He uses HP DesignJet Z6100 to do his wide format prints from Mars.

Apart from HP, Epson and Canon also manufacture high quality large format printers. In January 2012 Canon Image PROGRAF 8300s has won the BERTL’s ‘Best’ 44inch Graphics Arts Large Format Printer award. While Canon iPF8300 and Canon Glacier were used to print an exhibition of Olympic gold medallists.

Wide format printers are usually used in the industry to print banners, posters and general signage, but the type of wide format printing Capraro is producing with HP DesignJet Z6100 has to be admired and should be appreciated by all of us.

At Ink’n’TonerUK we provide a large range of wide format ink cartridges and take care of all your printing needs. So, if you are looking for cartridges look no further. At Ink’nTonerUK we provide highest quality products for the lowest prices.
