Consumers Free Choice

It is obvious and everyone knows that, the consumers have the freedom to buy whatever they desire. They can buy compatibles like ink cartridges, toner cartridges, fuser units and drum units or the originals. However, the customers have to be aware, that the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) DO NOT want consumers to be purchasing cheaper ink cartridges for the printer that they have spent thousands to develop. Although, this was not the case at least momentarily with Dell.  According to Choice Stationery Supplies, the computer technology giant had a PDF on their web titled “Dell Printer and Printer Supplies Environmental Policy” which included the following

“Dell printers do not prevent the use of non manufacture printer supplies ink, toner, drums, rollers, fusers etc. The use of non-Dell printer supplies ink, toner, drums, rollers, fusers, including refill and re-manufactured supplies is a customer’s choice.”

However, the PDF on the Dell’s website was short lived and seems to be removed.

OEMs against Compatibles

The statement from Dell flies in the face of all Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) who are strongly determined to prevent any use of compatible ink or toner cartridges, hence the probable reason why it was taken off.

To an extent, there is threat that compatible products pose to the profits of the OEMs. The quality of compatible cartridges has increased, while the cost price remains much lower, than the original cartridges, making the consumers wonder why should they pay more for similar results.

Recently, OEMs such as Canon, Lexmark, Brother have taken steps to prevent consumers from using compatible cartridges. Canon have patented re manufacturing method, while several OEMs released statements advising the customers against the compatibles. Additionally, most of the OEMs have introduced POP-UPS to hassle consumers if they insert compatible cartridges in their printer. Sometimes, even lying that there is no ink left when the brand new re manufactured cartridge has just been inserted.

Compatibles are good for Environment and Your Wallet

In order to keep the balance on the planet between saving resources and producing new products, it is extremely important that we continue to use compatible ink cartridges and compatible toner cartridges, as well as other compatible consumables. The amount of waste keeps increasing, while resources are limited too. So the next time you have to make a decision between the compatible or original consumables and you decide to go for the re-manufactured one – just know that, not only you are saving enormously on the price but you are also doing the right thing by helping to keep the environment clean while at the same time saving the planets resources. This might not seem like much but when you have 7 billion people on the planet – it all adds up.

Dell Regular Ink Use Cartridges..?

There is a bit of confusion surrounding Dell’s introduction of their regular use ink cartridges and what exactly does it mean. As some of you may know, Lexmark owns Dell and Dell ink cartridges are essentially Lexmark ink cartridge rebrands. For those familiar with Lexmark’s attempt to stomp out the remanufacturing industry this will ring familiar bells, but for the rest of us it only provides confusion. The introduction of Dell’s regular use ink cartridge range could be a change of direction from Lexmark after they have seen heavy losses in their printer and ink cartridge sales.

Dell Regular Use Cartridges

Dell’s regular use cartridges could be an attempt to give its failing company image a facelift and give it a chance to reshape for others to see it as a pro-recycling company. However, this is, after all, just a simple illusion as there is no difference between the single use and regular cartridges in terms of design and page yield except a 75% increase in price between the two.

There is very little information regarding Dell’s regular use cartridges, but what we think is that the regular use cartridges can be for use with a continuous ink flow system or refilled. For those of you who do not know what this is, it is essentially bottles of ink connecting directly to your ink cartridges via little tubes and can be in use whilst printing. (See the picture provided below). The type of cartridges which Dell are using with their regular use scheme (ink tanks) would be very strange to refill. That’s why we also think they are intended for use with a continuous ink flow system. Customers can, however, run the risk of refilling these ink cartridges themselves but run the gauntlet of a tricky and a potentially disastrous mess if it all goes wrong.

Dell vs Epson

Today, we’ll be facing two more giants against each other, like we did last week. Lexmark vs HP were compared last week, this week, however, it’s Dell vs Epson. Let’s get started.

Dell vs Epson

When choosing a printer, one of the most important things to take into consideration is the cost per page. Most people when buying a printer select one on the basis of the price of the hardware not how much it’s going to cost them to maintain the printer during the time that it’s owned. This article provides you with some examples of the different cost’s of consumables.

Some printer manufactures try to provide value for money with their consumables whereas others just care about making the maximum amount of money they can from you the consumer.

These examples show how you can save money over time and show how you should use careful consideration to what you’re buying.

Differences in Price – Dell vs Epson

You can see that with both Dell and Epson printers, paying a bit more for your printer will give you much better running costs and help you save in the long run. This is a general rule to consider when buying any printer. An increase in the cost of a printer usually results in a lower cost per page, higher page yield (better cost-efficiency) and is much better than buying than a printer as cheaply as possible. The print quality from more expensive machines will also be better as well as its features, functions and connectivity.

Ink cartridges – buying the easy way

Buy your ink cartridges online the easy way, for a cost-effective service.

Most of us are used to buying things over the internet – whether it’s the weekly shopping, Christmas presents or things for the home. A huge variety of goods and services are available online and yet we still use shops for certain items. Many people still visit computer suppliers to buy ink cartridges, for example, but if you choose the right website, you can cut down your time and your costs by buying online.

All ink cartridges in one place

The best thing about buying online, of course, is that there are hundreds of ink cartridges to choose from. So even if you have an older printer, or one that you can have difficult finding replacement ink cartridges for on the high street, an online site is often able to help. Finding the ink cartridges you need is easy – just type in your printer make and model number – or use the links on the site to find your printer quickly and easily. From there, it’s just a short step to ordering the ink cartridges you want and checking out. Delivery is often within a couple of days and, depending how much you spend, delivery could also be completely free. You can buy ink cartridges for a wide range of printers – inkjet and laser – including:

Greener ink cartridges

Empty ink cartridges can be wasteful, particularly if they’re just thrown away when they’re finished. Many companies are now recycling ink cartridges, which helps the environment, but also reduces the cost. For many models of printer, you can buy brand new original cartridges, but you can also buy cheaper cartridges that are compatible with your machine, or you can choose recycled cartridges that will save you money but give you the same great quality print.
